Under Construction: Where Do I Begin?
So I need to overhaul my book, not a complete rewrite, mind you, just some demolition and remodeling work, but still…it can look a little overwhelming if I let myself dwell on it too long.
So where do I start?
I just do. I’m going to take a line from one of my favorite movie songs and start at the very beginning. It’s a very fine place to start.
This weekend, I’m pulling my book apart chapter-by-chapter and hashing out a new outline, detailing what’s getting sliced, added or morphed a bit into something else. Then off it goes to my editors and I await their edit letter.
And I write. Because all that talk on Wednesday is now growing like weeds taking over my brain and I have a lot of cool stuff I need to put down on paper. A lot of cool stuff.
So far, so good.
I’m actually kind of grateful it’s going to be a rainy, craptastical weekend (we’re getting hit by the edges of Hurricane Joaquin) and I’ve got nothing to do but write, write, write.
See ya on Monday, folks, with the beginnings of a remodeled book. Wish me luck – or at least some modicum of wit.
