Finally home from the big road trip and Niko is a contented kitty At a rest stop in Ohio that features a walking trail with an Eric Carle story. ❤️ These two enormous trees are right outside my hotel room window. I named them Mac and Maisie and they grew up together and fell in love. I feel a story coming on. My letter “I” pick for this year’s A to Z Reading Challenge was INTO THE BLUE by Emma Brodie. I was expecting a fun romance about an actor and his (almost) high school sweetheart. What I got was an absolute emotional rollercoaster of snappy dialogue, frequent hilarity, sizzling chemistry, overwhelming yearning, and heartbreaking obstacles to be overcome. This book wrung me out in the best way and I’m still not over it. Jessa is a Traveler, and can slide through reflections into alternate universes. But it’s not all cupcakes and fantasy lifestyles – she’s being systematically murdered in every reality. She’ll need all her wits (and the help of a multiverse traveling pirate) if she’s going to survive. You should always be kind, especially to yourself.
