This Week Is A Big Week: I’m Heading To The Big Apple To Meet My Editor & Agent
This is a big week for me! On Wednesday, I’m off to the Big Apple to meet my editor face-to-face. We’re going to sit down and hash over my book, pull some things apart, discuss some things, and when that’s all through, I head a few blocks over and meet my agent face-to-face and we talk about all that I just did and all that I have yet to do and we’ll probably eat dessert.
Okay, there’s no probably about it.
One of the great things about where I live is proximity, and that’s helpful when I want to get face to face with important people. Sitting down with my manuscript and turning pages while we’re in the same room literally looking at the same page and seeing each other’s facial expressions and body language while we do it is invaluable. I’m in the Philly suburbs, so NYC is only a train ride away.
Along with that benefit, comes the benefit of being centrally located to some big markets. When the time comes for book signings, etc., I can drive or hop a train to NY, to Philly, to Washington DC and to Baltimore with ease. And I plan to! Never thought I’d be grateful for being a single Mom, but my kids are now away every other weekend, leaving me free to market my butt off.
Oh, if only it were that easy to lose some of your butt. But you see where I’m going with this. I will be a one-woman marketing machine.
But first, I’ll be sinking my teeth into the Big Apple, and my manuscript. I’m so excited! I know it’s juvenile to use exclamation points repetitively but damn! I’m excited!
Breathe. I need to remember to breathe. And write, I guess. Better practice that one.
I’ll let you know how it goes!
