A To Z Book Review: Fated To The Wolf Prince By April L. Moon
My letter “F” pick for this year’s A To Z Reading Challenge was FATED TO THE WOLF PRINCE by April L. Moon. I’m trying to read more shifter romances lately because I’ve got an inkling of an idea for a series in that subgenre and immersing myself helps the creative juices flow, so to speak. This book (and the ones that follow in the series) are just what I needed.
We begin by meeting Brielle and her two besties, Shay and Lee, all she-wolf shifters with a pack in Texas. The high Alpha of all the wolf packs has called for a mass meeting of all eligible young male and female wolf shifters for the purposes of matching up some mates and increasing the wolf shifter’s dwindling population,
Brielle has always been a lowly Psi – the lowest member of the pack in terms of power, especially since Omegas have been outlawed by the ODL, or Omega Defense League, a magical coalition formed to hunt down and murder Omegas within three days of their birth. It’s never totally explained (or if it was, it wasn’t explained clearly) why the Omegas are so dangerous. There’s a vague mention of them being able to temporarily use Alpha powers and we see that in action somewhat with Brielle.
While at the mass gathering held in Alaska, Brielle ends up finding her true mate – the surly and utterly gorgeous (of course) son of the High Alpha (of course, of course), Kane. Things get even more complicated when another she-wolf challenges Brielle for mating rights to Kane, and the ODL shows up, investigating a blast of Omega power that was detected. Brielle and her two besties, along with Kane and his two besties, end up embroiled in a larger plot when the High Alpha is found murdered, and we discover Brielle is not what she appears to be.
The series has loads of humor, a great cast of supporting characters, and serious steam. All in all, a very enjoyable read, if a bit predictable. I ended up reading the rest of the series, and recommend you do, too. Four and a half stars on this one.
